Newport® Hippie — HIP Posterior Integrated Extension orthosis
The Newport HIPPIE is the most innovative hip orthosis in a decade. Designed to provide maximum control to stabilize patients following complicated revision procedures, this orthosis provides unsurpassed flexion/extension and abduction/adduction control of the hip.
The Newport HIPPIE provides for additional control by incorporating a rigid Posterior Thoracic Extension (PTE) with shoulder straps into a standard Newport 3 or Newport 4 hip abduction system. The additional support provided by stabilizing the upper torso augments the flexion and extension control previously provided by only the pelvic band and hip joint. Abduction and Adduction is additionally controlled through the shoulder strap arrangement. The additional HIPPIE PTE component adds a stiffness to the system that makes it easy for patients to apply, and once the orthosis is donned, the PTE adds considerable rotational control and stability to the entire system.
When ordering a Newport 3 or 4 hip system, choose the Newport HIPPIE Upgrade for your most complicated patients. The HIPPIE PTE Kit is available to retrofit your existing Newport 3 or 4 orthosis by removing the posterior panel and replacing it with the PTE assembly via the patented clamping disks.
