Confidence in One CRO: The One Headband Guarantee

For families beginning cranial remolding treatment, knowing what to expect makes a meaningful difference. The One Headband Guarantee provides added reassurance and confidence throughout the treatment journey.

Backed by more than 25 years of cranial remolding experience and recent Starband product analysis, more than 99% of patients successfully complete Starband treatment with one cranial remolding orthosis (CRO).

Designed to Support Treatment with One CRO

Starband supports successful treatment with a single orthosis through a growth-focused approach:

Precision Design
Each Starband orthosis is individually designed to encompass the cranial vault, maintain appropriate resistive forces, and accommodate growth in designated void areas to help guide cranial correction.

Growth-Focused Treatment
Proper modification and volume management throughout treatment help accommodate cranial growth while guiding correction. Approximately 2–3 cm of circumferential growth is needed to correct a moderate to severe cranial deformity, making treatment timing and ongoing clinical management important components of the treatment program.

Clinical Confidence
By accounting for growth and volume throughout treatment, Starband is designed to support successful treatment with a single orthosis for eligible patients.

Why Treatment Timing Matters

An infant’s age at the start of treatment directly relates to natural head growth patterns and influences the duration of treatment.

During periods of more rapid cranial growth, the 2–3 cm of growth needed for correction may be captured within approximately three months. For older infants, up to six months of treatment may be needed to capture a similar amount of natural growth.

* Ideal time to capture the necessary 2–3 cm of natural head growth to correct a moderate or severe infant skull deformity with a 3-month treatment program.

** Up to 6 months of treatment is needed to capture 2–3 cm of natural head growth to correct a moderate or severe infant skull deformity in an older infant.

When Is a Second CRO Needed?

A second CRO is rarely indicated but may be considered when clinical circumstances affect the amount of growth or correction achievable with the initial orthosis. Examples may include a disruption in treatment due to illness, a very severe deformity requiring more than 3 cm of circumferential and directed growth, or comorbidities requiring accommodations to the orthotic design or wearing schedule.

For eligible patients, the One Headband Guarantee reflects Orthomerica’s confidence in Starband’s precision design and growth-focused treatment approach, while giving families added reassurance as they begin their Starband journey.
