Non-Accredited Course
This comprehensive two-part presentation provides clinicians with a full-spectrum understanding of peripheral neuropathy, Charcot foot syndrome, and foot wounds—from disease development and progression to effective clinical and orthotic interventions.
The course will have an in-depth overview of the pathogenesis and progression of these complex conditions, highlighting the interrelationship between peripheral neuropathy, Charcot foot syndrome, and wound formation. Emphasis is placed on early identification, risk factors, and the critical role of interdisciplinary treatment programs in preventing serious complications, including amputation and mortality.
Building on this foundation, the presentation will review practical, solution-oriented clinical considerations. Clinicians will explore effective orthotic design principles and treatment strategies, with a focused review of the four key components of orthotic design: offloading, deceleration at initial loading, altered timing, and immobilization. Together, these concepts support improved patient outcomes through optimized protection, healing, and long-term management.
Clinicians will gain both the clinical insight and applied tools necessary to better manage high-risk patients and deliver more effective, evidence-based care.
