Clinical Decision-Making: Clinical Applications for Patients with Charcot Foot Syndrome and/or Foot Wounds

2.25 (S) CEUs.

Course Description

This comprehensive part 2 online course provides clinicians with practical, evidence-informed orthotic management strategies for patients with Charcot Foot Syndrome, peripheral neuropathy, diabetic foot ulcers, and other complex lower-limb conditions.

This online continuing education course explores essential orthotic design and treatment principles, including offloading, load deceleration, altered timing, and immobilization, to support effective protection, healing, and long-term patient management. Participants will evaluate traditional treatment approaches, such as total contact casting and CROW orthoses, alongside custom and prefabricated solutions from Orthomerica’s Whole Limb Solutions (OWLS®) family.

Through clinical case presentations and practical treatment considerations, the course addresses orthotic device selection, post-healing transitions, patient adherence, and interdisciplinary care to support individualized, evidence-informed limb-preservation strategies.
